Zodiacal Releasing is a time-lord technique attributed to Vettius Valens (2nd century CE) that divides life into major and minor periods governed by the Lot of Spirit (career and action) or the Lot of Fortune (health and circumstances). Each period is ruled by a zodiac sign and its domicile lord, revealing the thematic arc of entire life chapters. The technique identifies peak periods where career breakthroughs and major life events cluster, as well as the 'loosing of the bond' -- transitional sub-periods that mark turning points within each chapter. Firdaria is a planetary period system with roots in Persian astrology, later integrated into the Hellenistic tradition. It assigns each planet rulership over a specific number of years in a fixed sequence that differs for diurnal (day) and nocturnal (night) charts. The Sun rules 10 years, Venus 8, Mercury 13, the Moon 9, Saturn 11, Jupiter 12, and Mars 7, with the North and South Nodes adding their own periods. Whole Sign Houses is the original house system of Hellenistic astrology, used from the 1st century BCE through the early medieval period before quadrant-based systems (Placidus, Koch) gained popularity. In this system, the entire sign containing the Ascendant degree becomes the 1st house, the next sign becomes the 2nd house, and so on. There are no intercepted signs and no unequal house sizes. Every planet's house placement is determined solely by its sign.
