How Astro Engine computes charts, writes horoscope content, discloses AI assistance, and handles corrections. We publish this so the work behind every page is auditable.
How we build a page
Astro Engine is a hybrid editorial operation. Astronomical positions are computed deterministically; interpretive prose is drafted against reviewed templates and disclosed where AI assistance is used.
1. Compute the chart
Every planetary position, house cusp, aspect, transit, return, and progression is calculated live from the Swiss Ephemeris — the same NASA JPL-derived engine that powers Solar Fire, Astro.com, and most professional desktop astrology software. No dates, degrees, or aspects are ever approximated or pulled from generic web sources.
2. Draft against reviewed templates
Horoscope paragraphs, sign descriptions, compatibility readings, and forecast prose are written against templates reviewed against established astrological tradition (Hellenistic foundations, Medieval rulership, modern psychological astrology). The template is the unit of editorial work — once a template is approved, it drives thousands of personalized renderings.
3. Disclose AI assistance
Daily horoscope forecasts are generated with large-language-model assistance against the reviewed templates. Every page that contains AI-assisted prose carries a footnote that says so plainly, per Google's 2024 guidance: AI assistance is fine, hidden AI is not.
4. Refresh on real cosmic weather
Retrograde windows, eclipses, ingresses, and return dates are recomputed against the Swiss Ephemeris on a daily cron. Pages that reference upcoming events update automatically when the underlying ephemeris does.
Editorial standards
- Real calculations, never invented Every planetary position, transit, return, and aspect on this site comes from the Swiss Ephemeris. We never approximate dates from memory or make up degrees.
- AI-assisted text is always disclosed Where large language models are used to draft forecast prose against reviewed templates, the page says so. Per Google's 2024 guidance on AI content: AI assistance is fine, hidden AI is not.
- Templates are reviewed before they ship The templates that drive horoscope, compatibility, and sign-guide pages are reviewed against established astrological tradition before deployment. We update them when we find better wording, or when the underlying transit context shifts.
- Date precision matters Retrograde windows, eclipse dates, Saturn returns, and other timed events are computed live from the Swiss Ephemeris — not pulled from generic web sources or memorized from prior years.
- Honest about what astrology is We treat astrology as a framework for self-reflection and timing, not a predictive science. Our copy aims for clarity and dignity, not fear or false certainty. We will not publish copy that uses astrology to scare a reader into a purchase.
