How to Identify Your Decan
This decan covers 0° up to but not including 10° of Aries.
Use your Sun's tropical sign and degree to identify its decan. Calendar dates are approximate; your birthday alone may not settle a boundary placement. If your birth time is unknown, a representative position near a boundary may leave your decan uncertain.
This collection uses modern triplicity: sub-rulers follow the signs of the same element. Other systems, including Chaldean decans, assign different rulers. The descriptions below are interpretive traditions, not measured personality traits. Compare the decan methods at Astrodienst.
The first decan of Aries is the purest expression of the Ram. Ruled solely by Mars, these individuals are fearless initiators with an almost primal drive to conquer. They charge headfirst into life without hesitation, embodying the raw courage that defines Aries at its most essential. There is no dilution here — what you see is an unfiltered force of willpower and competitive fire.
How This Decan Differs
Unlike the second and third decans, the first decan Aries has no secondary planetary influence softening their approach. They are the most impulsive, the most direct, and often the most physically courageous of all Aries. Where later decans gain nuance through Sun or Jupiter, this decan is pure Mars — action before thought, instinct before strategy.
